# Improved Baby pets - pet buffers for adena
Three pets you can get without «Coin of Luck». They cast the same 2-hour buffs as the pet buffers from the donation shop, but with two differences. First, the pet appears at level 55 and keeps growing on its own: while it's nearby, it takes 35% of the experience its owner gets. Second, level-gated buffs (songs, dances, «Counter Critical») unlock by the pet's own level, not the owner's - to get the full set, the pet has to be leveled up. Buffs in the «From lvl 55» row are available right away. Improved Baby pets have no attack skills.
- Buy for adena
- Alt+B → «Shop» → «Pets» - 100 000 000 adena per summoning item
- Buy for «Coin of Luck»
- Alt+B → «Donation Store» → «Misc» → «Pets» - 300 «Coin of Luck»
. Coins of Luck can also be obtained in the game itself, without donating - see where: https://l2afterwork.com/about/#coin-of-luck - The cheap way - raise it yourself
- Buy a regular baby pet in the same place, «Shop» → «Pets», for 5 000 000 adena: «Baby Buffalo Panpipe»
, «Baby Cougar Chime»
or «Baby Kookaburra Ocarina»
. Level it up to 55 (the baby pet also takes part of its owner's experience), summon it and go to a Pet Manager (for example, «Cooper»
in Giran) → «Evolve pet.». The pet's level and experience are kept when it evolves - Experience
- The pet takes 35% of its owner's experience while it's nearby and levels up on its own
- What to feed it

# What are pet buffers and how they work
Buffer pets on L2 After Work are permanent companions that automatically cast a powerful set of buffs on their owner and keep them up. No need to run to an NPC buffer every two hours, look for a support player for your party or stand in town for a rebuff: summon the pet and the buff set you need is already on your character, and the pet refreshes the buffs as they expire. The pet has no timer and stays with you for good as long as you keep feeding it. Each pet has its own buff template for a specific role - warrior, archer, dagger, battle mage, support mage or tank. The pet does not replace the buffer from the Workshop (Alt+B), it works alongside it: you take the full set from the buffer, and the pet keeps its top buffs on you and refreshes them itself. Which buffs a pet gives depends on its level - the higher ones unlock as it grows. Buffer pets are not only in the donation shop. The stock Grown-up Hatchlings - Kookaburra, Buffalo and Cougar - are obtained for adena and also keep strong buffs on their owner: songs, dances and the rest unlock as the pet itself levels up.
- Pet lifetime
- Permanent — the pet has no timer, it stays with the character as long as it's fed
- What to feed it
- «Improved Baby Pet Food»
— the same food for all buffer pets - Where to buy the food
- Right in Alt+B, without leaving your location: «Donation Store» → «Pets» or «Coupon exchange», and also «Shop» → «Pets» and «Grocery» — 10,000 adena apiece. That's 10 times pricier than the Pet Manager in town (for example «Cooper»
in Giran) — a premium for not having to run anywhere for feed - Single buff duration
- 2 hours (pet auto-refreshes)
- Who receives the buffs
- Pet owner (Maintenance skills — party-wide)
- Buying a pet
- Right in the Community Board: Alt+B → «Donation Store» → «Misc» section → «Pets». Pick the pet that fits your class from the list and get its summoning necklace right away — no intermediate items or quests; pet feed is in the same list, see Workshop (Alt+B)
- Exchanging a coupon for a pet
- A separate mechanic in the neighboring window: Alt+B → «Donation Store» → «Coupon exchange». The «Pet Exchange Coupon»
can be exchanged for any 1st- or 2nd-generation pet. The coupon itself isn't sold — it only comes in the starter packs: 1 pc. in the «Medium Starter Pack»
and 2 pc. in the «Large Starter Pack»
- Transferring a pet to another character
- The summoning necklace can be sent to another character on your account through the «Dimensional Merchant»
, found in towns. In their menu choose «Transfer a Dimensional Item to another character on this account»; the recipient picks up the parcel in the same menu via «Withdraw a transfered Dimensional Item». The transfer costs 1,000 adena per item. The pet's level and experience travel with the necklace, but items in the pet's inventory stay with the sender — take them out beforehand. A summoned pet can't be transferred: unsummon it first - Auto-heal owner
- Yes, all pets have
«Pet Battle Heal» — triggers when the owner's HP drops below 30%. Melee and archer pets additionally have
«Pet Greater Heal», which triggers earlier — already below 80% - Auto MP restore
- Magic pets and the tank pet have
«Pet Recharge»: below 60% MP on the owner and only in combat. Mage and support pets additionally get the
«Pet Mana Regeneration» buff from pet level 40 - Pet attack skills
- Yes — the pet also attacks on its own
# Choosing the pet's buffs - the .petbuff command
If the pet casts buffs you don't need - for example, it overrides the support's buffs - turn them off one by one. Summon the buffer pet and type .petbuff in chat: a window opens with a list of its buffs and checkboxes. An unchecked box - the pet no longer casts that buff. A buff already active isn't removed: it just stops being refreshed and expires on its own. The pet keeps its other buffs on you as usual.
- Command
- .petbuff - works while a pet that buffs its owner is summoned
- Which pets
- All buffer pets: both those from the donation shop and Grown-up Hatchlings
- Window buttons
- «Check all» and «Uncheck all» - all of the pet's buffs at once. 10 buffs per page in the window
- Each pet has its own set
- The checkboxes are saved for a specific pet: if you have two pets, each one keeps its own set
- By default
- All buffs are on: until you open the window, the pet buffs everything it can
- Buffs above the pet's level
- Buffs the pet hasn't grown into yet are shown in gray with a «from pet lvl N» note - you can uncheck them in advance
- What can't be configured
- Healing and restoring the owner's MP - the pet always does these, regardless of the checkboxes
