Gear Score (GS)
Gear Score on L2 After Work: a character's entire equipment reduced to one honest number. Enchant, attribute, SA, augment and set bonus are all in the formula; the target's GS shows in the target window, every party member's GS in the party window, the party's average GS right in the invitation, plus a server top and an achievement with rewards. Command .gs.

# What Gear Score is
Gear Score (GS) is a single number that honestly answers the main Lineage 2 question: «how well is this character geared?». Before, you had to piece the answer together — Shift+click, asking in chat, comparing enchants by eye. Now the server evaluates every equipped item itself — grade, real stats, enchant, attribute, soul crystal, augmentation, set bonus — and folds it all into a single GS. It's visible to you, your party, and anyone who targets you, grows with every gear upgrade, and feeds into the server-wide ranking. This is our own development: the system lives on the server side and in our client interface, nothing to download or configure — it works for every player from the first login.
# What it gives you in game
- Size up an opponent before the first hit
- Target them — see the GS and category. Instantly clear who's in front of you: a fresh level 85 in Vesper +0 or a player in a BiS set.
- Build a party consciously
- Hover over a member's row in the party window to see their GS, or open the whole party's table with .gs party before an instance or an epic: you can see at a glance who's geared for the content and who should sharpen their enchants. No more «post a screenshot of your gear» in chat.
- Decide whether to join a party
- The invitation arrives with numbers already on it: the inviter's GS with their category and their party's average GS sit right in the party invite window. You know whether you're joining a full party or an empty one before you even press «Yes».
- See your own progress
- Every enchant, every attribute stone, every completed set piece — a plus on screen and a step up the ranking. Progress stops being abstract.
- Compete
- Server gear top, [#1 GS], [#2 GS], [#3 GS] tags in the title, gold, silver and bronze wings by the name overhead, and an achievement with blessed enchant scrolls.
- Check another character
- .gs with a nickname — evaluate any player, even offline. Handy when putting together a steady party or clan — or just out of curiosity.
# Where you see GS
The score is built into the places you already look at in combat and in town — nothing to search for.
- Target window
- Target a player and expand the target window: the line «GS 2307» sits above the clan. The number is colored by category — clear at a glance who you're facing.
- Target tooltip
- Hover over the class icon in the target window — next to class, speeds, weapon and armor, a line «Gear Score: 2307 (Strong)» appears: both the number and the category name spelled out.
- Party window
- Hover over a member's row — «GS: 2219» appears next to it, colored by their category. Works in both party windows, standard and compact; if a member hid their score, «hidden» shows instead of a number.
- Party invitation
- The party invite window shows the inviter's GS with their category below the text, and, if they already have a party, that party's average GS as well. Both numbers are colored by their category.
- Status Window (Alt+T)
- Your own score sits in the expanded status window, on the same line as your level: «GS 2816» — colored by your category.
- Alt+B → «My Gear»
- Full breakdown: total GS, category, the stable value used for ranking, top position, the contribution of weapon, armor, jewelry and the rest, and below that every equipped item with its own score and enchant.
- Profile in Alt+B
- Your current GS is shown on the «Gear» line of the character card on the Community Board main page (Alt+B) — alongside your nickname, class, level and clan.
- On-screen message
- Change gear, enchant, insert an attribute — «GS: 2136 (+35)» flashes in the top-right corner. Every step is visible right away.
- Title and wings
- The server's top three wear [#1 GS], [#2 GS], [#3 GS] in their title — gold, silver and bronze — and a matching pair of wings by their name overhead.
- .gs command
- Your own score, the target's, any player's by nickname, or the whole party's — in a single chat line.
- Website
- The «Gear Score Top» tab in the personal cabinet — the same selection rules as in game.
# How GS is calculated
The formula breaks down into three steps. Step 1. Every equipped item has a base value — it depends on the slot, grade and the item's real stat: P.Atk or M.Atk for weapons, P.Def for armor and jewelry, defense for shields. Step 2. The base value is multiplied by the item's own bonuses — enchant, attack attribute, soul crystal, PvP status — and augmentation is added on top. Step 3. All items are summed, then a set bonus for a completed set and elemental defense — calculated for the whole character — are added. Below is exactly what affects it and by how much.
- Base value: slot, grade, stats
- Weapon is the heaviest-weighted slot: Vesper Cutter
is worth 640, a full heavy Vesper set with shield is roughly the same (544 + 96), a Vesper jewelry set is 306. Within the same grade a stronger item is always worth more: Eternal Core Sword
is rated higher than Vesper Cutter at the same enchant. The scale between grades is steep — a C-grade sword is 120 versus 640 for S84, so +16 on a C-grade won't catch up to +0 S84. - Weapon enchant
- Takes the actual gain from the game core — P.Atk for a warrior weapon, M.Atk for a mage weapon — and boosts it, because enchant works on both auto-attack and skills: for a warrior the gain is multiplied by one and a half, for a mage by 1.1, and the percentages end up almost the same. For a Vesper Cutter: +3 ≈ +6%, +6 ≈ +17%, +10 ≈ +32%, +16 ≈ +55% to base value. There's no cap: the server only has fair enchanting, and GS keeps growing with it indefinitely.
- Armor and shield enchant
- Follows the HP bonus curve from the core: almost nothing up to +3 (1% per level), real growth starts at +4 — +4 → 5%, +6 → 14%, +8 → 28%, +10 → 47%, +12 → 72%, then 2% per level up to +20. Just like in combat, armor really opens up after +4.
- Jewelry enchant
- 1% per level up to +3 and 2% for every level after that — a small but honest bonus.
- Attack attribute on weapons
- Up to +45% to weapon value for 300 units of attribute (150 → +22.5%), then up to +10% more on the way to 600. Both inserted stones and the item's innate attribute count.
- Elemental defense on armor
- Calculated per character, not per item — the game core adds up defense the same way. 300 defense in one element = 100 GS, three elements maxed at 300 = 300 GS — roughly the same as a 300 attribute on an S84 weapon. Stones, the innate defense of cloaks and jewelry, and set bonuses all count.
- Soul crystal (SA)
- +5% for a weapon with a soul crystal.
- PvP items
- +5% for a PvP version of an item.
- Augmentation
- +20 for any weapon augmentation, and +40 if it rolled an active, passive or trigger skill.
- Set bonus
- +10% of the sum of armor pieces for a full set, and +15% if every piece is enchanted +6 or above. The bonus scales proportionally with the set's tier and enchant.
- Cloak, belt, shirt
- Enchanting these slots is scored by the real HP and P.Def bonus, not by a percentage of a tiny base: Mithril Shirt
+0 is worth 25, and +12 is already 133. Shirts and belts whose power scales with enchant (Olf's T-shirt, Weaver's Clothes, Vitality Belt) convert their stats into GS. - Epic jewelry
- A fixed score by the item's power, not its grade: Necklace of Valakas
— 220, Improved Necklace of Valakas
— 300, and +6 adds its own 9% (327). Cursed versions are worth 70% of the original. - Talismans and bracelets
- A flat score: talisman 8, bracelet 10. Identical talismans are counted once.
- What isn't counted
- Shadow and event items, wigs, masks and costumes — 0. Temporary timed items — 70% of the normal score. Kamael without a shield get compensation for the slot they don't have access to.
# Example: one weapon at different stages
Let's take Vesper Cutter
with a soul crystal and trace how its score grows. Base value 640, SA gives +5%.

# Example: a character's path from level 40 to BiS
All figures are calculated from the server's real items by the same code that runs in the game.
| Character | Gear | GS | Category |
|---|---|---|---|
| Level 40, C-grade | 262 | Newbie | |
| Level 85, Vesper +0 | 1 672 | Strong | |
| Level 85, healer | 1 774 | Strong | |
| Level 85, damage dealer | 2 094 | Strong | |
| Same damage dealer + elemental defense | Three level-60 stones on each of the 5 armor pieces — three elements maxed at 300 | 2 439 | Strong |
| BiS set | 4 532 | Legend |
# Categories
Besides the number, every character also has a category — it sets the GS color in the target window, the party window, the party invitation and on the Alt+B pages. The scale reuses the familiar level-target colors, so it reads without having to memorize anything.
| Category | GS | Who this usually is |
|---|---|---|
| Newbie | 0 – 299 | starter gear, D–C grade |
| Regular | 300 – 1 499 | B–S grade, first enchants |
| Strong | 1 500 – 2 499 | Full S80–S84 set, first enchant and attribute |
| Dangerous | 2 500 – 2 999 | S84 with enchant and attribute, set +6 |
| Elite | 3 000 – 3 999 | top-tier sets +10 and above, Improved epics |
| Legend | 4,000 and above | The server's BiS sets |
# Gear top
Server-wide gear score ranking — the «Gear Top» button on the ranking pages in Alt+B and the .gs top command.
- Who is included
- Characters level 40 and above who logged in over the last 14 days.
- Stable value
- The top shows not the momentary GS but a stable one — the median over the last hour online. Taking off a weapon for a minute doesn't drop your spot, and passing a set around for a top spot won't work.
- Size and refresh
- 60 spots, 20 per page, the list refreshes every 10 minutes. Your own spot and stable GS are shown below the table.
- Title tag
- The top three wear [#1 GS], [#2 GS], [#3 GS] in their title — gold, silver and bronze.
- Wings overhead
- The top three have a pair of wings unfurl above their name overhead: gold for 1st place, silver for 2nd, bronze for 3rd. Everyone around can see them, and, unlike the title tag, the owner sees their own wings too. Wings don't depend on the title's text or color — change your title, and the wings stay.
- On the website
- The «Gear Score Top» tab in the personal cabinet — the same selection rules as in game.
# «Gear Score» achievement
GS growth is also an achievement with rewards: eight tiers, each roughly matching a full set of the next grade. Every tier gives Fame and items, and from the B-grade tier onward, blessed armor enchant scrolls.
| Tier | GS | Fame | Reward |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 — D-grade | 100 | 15 | |
| 2 — C-grade | 250 | 30 | |
| 3 — B-grade | 400 | 60 | |
| 4 — A-grade | 650 | 120 | |
| 5 — S-grade | 850 | 250 | |
| 6 — S80 / S84 | 1 500 | 500 | |
| 7 — enchant and attribute | 2 500 | 1 000 | |
| 8 — BiS | 4 000 | 2 000 |
# Privacy
- By default
- Your GS is visible to anyone who targets you, your party members in the party window, whoever you invite to a party, and anyone who types .gs with your nickname.
- Hide
- The «Hide» button on the «My Gear» page or the .gs hide command — others stop seeing your number: the party window and the invitation show «hidden» instead, the target window shows a gray dash. Bring it back with .gs show.
- What stays public
- Your spot in the gear top is part of the server ranking — hiding your GS does not remove it.
# Commands
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
| .gs | Your own score broken down by slot. If a player is targeted — their card too. |
| .gs nickname | Any player's score by character name, even offline. |
| .gs party | A separate page with the whole party: nickname, class and GS of every member. The same number is also visible without a command — as a tooltip on a member's row in the party window. |
| .gs top | The server's gear top. |
| .gs hide / .gs show | Hide or show your score to others again. |
| Alt+B | «My Gear», «Gear Top» and «Help» buttons — the whole system is available without commands too. |
# Why you can trust this number
We built GS to reflect gear — and nothing else.
